Organizations
ALTAR GUILD
One of the busiest organizations within the parish is the ALTAR GUILD. This group handles everything to do with the Altar, acting as God's housekeepers. The Altar Guild works in teams, rotating their duties weekly. The entire group comes together for special occasions, such as Christmas, Easter and the annual Harvest Altar in November.
The ECW
The EPISCOPAL CHURCH WOMEN is open to all the women of the parish. This organization, along with the Episcopal Day School, has held successful annual Christmas Bazaars (with Luncheon) the first Thursday in December for over fifty years. The event is well attended by the local community and regarded by some as the beginning of the Christmas season. Proceeds have enabled the ECW to contribute to various church projects as well as needs in the diocese and community.
The group meets regularly, on the third Thursday evening each month, except during the summer.
The CHOIR
The CHOIR at Nativity is composed of a core group of faithful members led by a paid director. The choir provides the 10:45 service with lovely anthems. They are accompanied by our organist, an accomplished musician.
The choir practices each Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. and additional practices are held as needed for special occasions and holidays.
CHURCH SCHOOL
We are small in numbers but classes are provided for children and an adult class is taught by its members with contemporary issues dominating the discussions.
EPISCOPAL YOUTH COMMUNITY
The EYC provides fellowship for all the youth of the parish, for grades 6-12. The group meets in Hunter Hall each Sunday evening from 6:00 to 7:30. Meals are prepared and a short devotional is discussed.
Planned trips may take the place of regular meetings.
LAY PARTICIPATION
LAY PARTICIPATION is strong at Nativity. We presently have chalice bearers, lay readers (who read the lessons) and a group who read the Prayers of the People. Adults and children serve as acolytes and parishioners assist as ushers for the 10:45 service. Our youth group is small but very lively!
